Our guests join us from all corners of the globe to try their hand at catching salmon, halibut, and cod from the bountiful waters of the British Columbia coastline. Yet, there's another spectacle that's every bit as magical as our angling adventures, and that's the breathtaking sunrises that grace our lodge each morning.

The 2023 season at Finn Bay Lodge has kicked off, and oh boy, it's proving to be a memorable one! We're delighted to welcome our beloved guests that are arriving at our serene corner of the Great Bear Rainforest. We're in awe of the stories of camaraderie, excitement, and the impressive catches that our guests have already started to create.

​For hours, they swam around our boat, their graceful bodies gently breaking the water's surface before disappearing and reappearing again, as if playing an elaborate game of hide-and-seek. The mother, her colossal body reflecting the sunlight, was the epitome of grace, displaying a level of trust and curiosity in us that we were profoundly touched by. Her calf, though smaller and less coordinated, showed no less enthusiasm, bobbing up and down, flapping its small fins, and occasionally, surprising us with a playful leap.

Picture this - early morning on the tranquil waters of Rivers Inlet, the faint pink of dawn spreading across the sky, the air crisp with the scent of the sea, and the anticipation of a fresh new day of fishing. Then, the tug on the line, the adrenaline surge, the battle between man and fish. After an intense struggle, reeling in a staggering 36-pound Spring Salmon, a true goliath of the sea. Yes, you read that right - a 36-pounder!
